Action day in The Hague, against corona measures and violation o
(Covid-19). Koekamp, The Hague, The Netherlands. Saturday 30th May, 2020. A number of demonstration’s took place around The Hague this afternoon, denouncing Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s policy on the handling of the (Covid-19) pandemic. The pandemic is seen by some: as an excuse to infringe on Civil Liberties and Democracy at large; with some believing that when the pandemic subsides policies will remain. Under the current situation: no more than a 30 people group formation and Socially-distanced is permitted. Acting Mayor Johan Kemkes brought the protest to an end when that number had been exceeded. Police both mounted and unmounted with batons at the ready -far out-numbered any protesters present and, which was on the whole a peaceful protest with only (2) arrests witnessed by me. Protesters and the media were slowly corralled into a very restricted area, outside The Hague’s Central Station. The meeting was brought to an end hours before schedule. RIVM: National Institute for Public Health and the Environment. Latest figures: Positive tested persons: 46,257. Admitted to hospital: 11,727. Reported deaths: 5,951. © Charles M Vella/Alamy Live News
