Freedom for Uyghurs - Kooekamp. Thursday 20 August 2020. The Hag

Koekamp, The Hague, The Netherlands. Thursday 20th August, 2020. East-Turkistan Organisational Alliance and Extinction Rebellion Fashion Action, held a peaceful protest in The Hague today. Over a million Uyghur people, from the Uyghur homeland of China are still being detained in concentration camps since 2017. China denies any form of ethnic cleansing or political indoctrination. The Uyghur have experienced family separation, human experimentation, torture and recent reports of female sterilization. The Uyghur are also forced to produce fabrics and garments for the fashion industry. 84% of China’s cotton production comes from the Uyghur region. Large brands like Puma, Microsoft, Zara, Apple, GAP and H&M are complicit in profiting from their enforced labour. © Charles M Vella/Alamy Live News
